Background:
The Reichsbahn (Imperial Railway) as formed from the Deutsche Reichseisenbahnen of 1920. In 1924, it was reorganized as the Deutsche Reichsbahn Gesellschaft (DRG). In 1937 it was reorganized again as the Deutsche Reichsbahn (DRB). On the 7th of May, 1945, Germany surrendered all of it's military forces uncoditionally to the Allies. In 1949 the newly created German Democratic Republic (East Germany) took control of it's portion and continued to use the traditional name Deutsche Reichsbahn (DRB). The Federal Republic of Germany (West Germany) renamed it's portion as the Deutsche Bundesbahn (DB). After the German Reunification in 1994, they were merged into the Deutsche Bahn (DB).
